Welcome to the Nelson Film Society!
Quality alternative entertainment
Nelson Film Society is pleased to be able to bring you another year of first class films from around the world. Our programme will feature works by the acclaimed cinema-artist Lech Majewski of Poland (and America) who will be present to introduce his films in a special address at the Suter Art Gallery. The assistance of the Goethe Institut has made available four German films from the East to mark the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Then, with the assistance of the French Embassy, we have three more by their great auteurs.
Support from the New Zealand Film Commission will allow us to screen a seminal New Zealand feature film – The Footstep Man together with the annual collection of short films. Finally, following the success of our end-of-season Korean movie last year, we have programmed three more. And, once again, we will present 'Live Cinema' from the silent era supported by Gabor Tolnay on the piano!
